Back side reads:

Machu Picchu is located on a mountain ridge high above the Urubamba Valley in Peru. Constructed around 1450 at the height of the Incan Empire, it is considered a sacred site.

Often referred to as "The Lost City of the Incas", one must wonder if it was ever really lost, or just well hidden. Most Incan sacred sites were systematically searched for and destroyed by the conquering Spaniards.

In 2007, Machu Picchu was voted as one of the New Wonders of the World. In 2008, the World Monument Fund placed Machu Picchu on its watch list of 100 Most Endangered Sites in the World due to the impact of tourism and development.
