Centurus A: A Peculiar Galaxy. Sale priced.
This very strange galaxy, some 10 million light years distant, is one of the brightest & most massive galaxies known. Its shape indicates that Centaurus A is an elliptical galaxy, but the broad band of obscuring material which encircles it is a formation normally seen only in much smaller galaxies. A strong source of X-rays and radio waves, it seems that the core of Centaurus A is the scene of violent explosions.
Photographed with the Cerro Tololo 4-meter Telescope. 1975.
